Wondering if anyone can help with a idling issue I've been having with my 2006 Ford Focus 1.6 TDCI. The other day, on a 25 mile journey, I had to pull up at a set of traffic lights. When I did the car started idling erratically between 500 - 1500 rpm, as I pulled away from the traffic lights I noticed the car jerking and/or hesitating slightly.
After a lot of reading (mostly on Mondea forums!) this is a part of the DPF system which injects and heats fuel into the DPF to get the regeneration process hot. It's part of the Euro 5 implementation and seems to be the weak link - in city driving it can get clogged up and/or have electrical problems.
