The GTI/Performance Package uses the Golf R brakes and stops the car in an incredible 100 feet from 60-0 mph. The BMW 2 Series, all with M brakes need 106 feet. Believe me, you can feel the difference. Too bad the GTI is still underpowered and takes forever to achieve speed-around 6 seconds to 60 mph, while the 228i gets there in 5 seconds.
